Gebhard, Weaknecht Secure Grant for Municipal Equipment Upgrade
September 15, 2026
HARRISBURG – Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) and Rep. Eric Weaknecht (R-Berks) today announced more than $50,000 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants for North Heidelberg Township. This investment was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
“Keeping our municipalities equipped to safely and efficiently maintain local roads and infrastructure is an important use of these grant dollars,” said Gebhard. “I was pleased to work with Representative Weaknecht to help secure this funding for the township and its residents.”
“I’m pleased to see this money come back into the district to help North Heidelberg Township. I’m proud to support funding that gives our municipalities the resources they need to keep serving residents,” said Weaknecht.
The following project received funding from the state:
• North Heidelberg Township- $57,924 to purchase a new skid. The equipment will replace a 50 year old grader that is limited to basic grading and too large for routine tasks. The skid loader will allow the township to complete a wide range of maintenance activities with one machine, including removing trees and storm debris, picking up brushes, cleaning gutters and ditches, installing pipes and plowing snow.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the Commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. The Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004 provides for the distribution of gaming revenue through the CFA. Local Share Account grants support economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest projects.
