Weaknecht Announces More than $1 Million For Spring Township Safety Upgrades

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Eric Weaknecht (R-Berks) today announced that Spring Township will receive more than $1.02 million through Pennsylvania’s Green Light-Go Program to modernize traffic systems and improve safety at intersections.

The Green Light-Go Program provides reimbursement grants to municipalities for projects that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

“Investing in infrastructure like this is one of the best ways we can improve our community while supporting future growth. Modernizing these traffic signals and improving the traffic flow will eliminate congestion and make it safer to travel through Spring Township,” Weaknecht said.

The funding will support traffic signal modernization and safety improvements at the following intersections:

• Fritztown Road and Old Fritztown Road.
• Revere Boulevard and Cloister Court.
• Shillington Road and:
   o West Wyomissing Boulevard/Morgan Drive.
   o Route 222 northbound ramps N and O.
   o Route 222 southbound Ramp Q/Lowes Drive.
   o Shakespeare Drive.
   o Spohn Road.
   o Iroquois Avenue.
• Van Reed Road and:
   o Dwight Street.
   o Snyder Road.
   o State Hill Road.
• Paper Mill Road and:
   o Van Reed Road.
   o High Hotel Driveway.
   o Broadcasting Square Drive/Century Boulevard.
   o Meridian Boulevard.
   o Broadcasting Road.
• Meridian Boulevard and Broadcasting Square Drive.
• Broadcasting Road and:
   o Route 222 Ramps E and F.
   o Route 222 westbound ramps G and H.
   o Harper Road.
   o Keiser Boulevard.·
• State Hill Roadd and:
   o Broadcasting Road.
   o West View Drive/Cheltenham Drive.
   o Wellington Boulevard/Salem Road.
   o Yerger Boulevard.
• Paper Mill Road and Colony Drive.
• Reading Boulevard and West Wyomissing Boulevard.
• West Wyomissing Boulevard and Private Drive.
