Legislative BINGO
We will be hosting Legislative BINGO this Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Reading Regional Airport.
Have fun learning about the Pennsylvania government through BINGO! Each bingo card is filled with words and terms you'll hear in Harrisburg. It’s a low-pressure, fun way to become more familiar with the ins and outs of PA government. No prior knowledge required! Enjoy great company and win prizes!

Coffee and Conversation
We will be hosting a Coffee and Conversation on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 8:30 a.m. at the Reading Regional Airport. Please call our office to RSVP at 610-378-4407.
Document Shredding
We will also be hosting a Document Shredding event on Saturday Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. through noon, at the Reading Regional Airport. We ask that you bring no more than 4 boxes of documents. No RSVP required!

Military and First Responders Appreciation
I was able to attend the Hamburg Area High School’s annual Military and First Responders Appreciation Night on Hawk Hill. The event was a great success, with a large turnout to honor those who protect our community. It was an amazing night to show appreciation for our military and first responders and all they do. |
Recognizing Dedicated Service in Our Community
It was an honor to present Irwin Levan and Gary Rothermel with House citations, recognizing their 50 years of dedicated service to the Shoemakersville Lions Club.

Are You 1 in 10?
The Pennsylvania Treasury estimates one in every 10 Pennsylvanians is owed unclaimed property by the state. You can easily find out if you are one of those citizens by visiting Treasury’s FREE unclaimed property database.
Unclaimed property can include dormant bank accounts, abandoned stocks, uncashed checks and more. Property is always available for the rightful owner to claim. Tangible property may be auctioned after three years, but proceeds remain available to claim in perpetuity.
Under a state law adopted last year, the Pennsylvania MoneyMatch program allows Treasury to automatically return unclaimed property valued at $500 or less and belonging to a single owner. But with the average claim of unclaimed property exceeding $1,000, residents are encouraged to check the database as well.
Military decorations and memorabilia – often turned over to Treasury from abandoned or forgotten safe deposit boxes – are never auctioned and remain in the vault for safekeeping until a veteran or their family is found. If you are a veteran or family member of a veteran, click here to check the database of unclaimed military items.
You NEVER have to pay anyone to be reunited with your unclaimed property. If you find property that belongs to you, you may claim it through Treasury’s website or contact my office for assistance. You do not need to hire anyone to help you make your claim. My office can help! |
Remember, It’s Safe2Say Something
With schools now back in session, it’s important to remind students, parents, teachers and community members about the Safe2Say Something program, which was established to offer an anonymous resource to report behavior perceived to be threatening to an individual or a school entity.
In addition to potential threats, the program has also received reports of issues such as bullying, anxiety, depression and suicide.

Attention First-Time Hunters!
Hunter-Trapper Education courses are required for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license in the Commonwealth. The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) offers both in-person and online options.
The course covers responsible hunting behavior, firearms basics and safety, basic shooting, wildlife conservation and management, outdoor safety and survival, hunting techniques, trapping and furtaking basics, and hunting safety.
The following options are available:
• PGC’s Basic Hunter-Trapper Education In-Person Course is offered free of charge to anyone age 11 and older. Classes are held in various locations across the Commonwealth. A schedule is available at www.pgc.pa.gov.
• An interactive online version of PGC’s Basic Hunter-Trapper Education Course is offered to Pennsylvania residents age 11 and older. The fee for this course is $49.95.
• PGC’s official online course is offered to Pennsylvania residents age 16 or older. The fee for this course is $34.95.
• The National Rifle Association offers a free online hunter education course to Pennsylvania residents age 11 and older.

A Celebration of PA Barns
The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office invites you to contribute to the effort of documenting and celebrating the barns of Pennsylvania that define our state’s rural traditions.
Barns represent the agricultural heritage, craftsmanship and local pride found throughout the Commonwealth. Whether your barn is a centuries-old bank barn, a family-built dairy barn, or a recently restored structure, the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office wants to preserve its story. You can go here to find out how to submit your photos and background information and have your barn added to the Pennsylvania Inventory of Historic Places. |
Broadband Projects Provisionally Approved
The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has provisionally approved $793 million in broadband expansion projects across Pennsylvania pending federal approval.
